Water Safety:
Water Safety is an in-water position, where you can expect to be in the surf, for the entire length of the event (approximately 4-5 hours). This position requires you to be an excellent swimmer with high endurance. Your responsibility is to assist surf instructors and athletes after exiting the wave, and provide a safe environment in the water. You are expected to be capable of treading water for a sustained period, swimming quickly, lifting and carrying a person, and capable of lifting an adult athlete back up onto a surfboard while in the water. Applicants must have attended a safety training, be at least 18 years old, with ocean lifeguard, junior lifeguard, or surf camp experience, (Exceptions can be made for qualified applicants). Wetsuits, booties, and fins are required. AWOW has fins available if you do not have your own.

Beach Safety:
Beach Safety is an in-water position responsible for helping the surf instructors and the athletes get safely in and out of the water. Applicants should be comfortable carrying athletes and surfboards in and out of the water. Wetsuits and booties recommended. Applicants should be at least 16 years or older.

Registration:
Registration greets and checks in all volunteers and athletes, ensuring proper paperwork is on file. Directs volunteers and athletes to team leads and assigned chaperones.

Wetsuits:
Wetsuit tent volunteers assist athletes in and out of wetsuits and life jackets and prepare them for surfing.

Chaperones:
Chaperones act as a liaison for families and athletes when not surfing. They manage the handoff from the wetsuit tent to the beach and then on to their designated surf instructor. They also interact with the families and athletes that are in queue to surf next.

Parking Lot Greeters:
Parking Lot Greeters assist our families from the car to registration. The first point of contact for participants arriving at an event, a smile and eagerness to help is required.

Beach Operations:
It takes a village. Beach Operations helps with the set up and tear down of all equipment. During the event, assists as needed.

Green Team:
AWOW prides itself on our sustainability efforts. The Green Team works with Beach Operations to ensure AWOW events are as sustainable as possible. Help manage cleanup and ensure trash is properly sorted and disposed of after each event.

Food and Beverage:
Food and Beverage volunteers ensure our crew is well fed and hydrated throughout the day. Assist with serving coffee, food, and snacks throughout the event, while keeping the lunch tent maintained and clean.

Vision:
Our Vision Team is comprised of some of the best photographers around. They capture all the amazing moments throughout the event both on the beach and in the water.
