2020 Season Message
We know you have all been anxiously waiting (as have we) to see when we would be able to get back in the water together again. After much thought and deliberation, a decision has been made in regards to our 2020 season and our Board of Directors wanted to deliver it to you personally via the video below. We love and miss you all!
WALK WITH US
Walk With Us is a snapshot of the lives of three children and their experience with A Walk On Water. We follow JJ (autism and epilepsy), Lexi (blind), and Milo (downs syndrome) through their daily routines, journey to the beach, and experience with the organization on the beach and in the water.
The film offers an unfiltered look at the struggle and transformation that occurs with our AWOW participants and their families. We hope that the film will help shed light on the importance and effectiveness of Surf Therapy and A Walk on Water. We all struggle because we are all humans. It doesn’t matter what your condition is, you can transform because we are all athletes.
JOHN PAUL DEJORIA ANNOUNCES AWOW ENDOWMENT
John Paul DeJoria, on behalf of John Paul Mitchell Systems and the Peace Love & Happiness foundation, has announced he is seeding the first ever endowment fund for A Walk On Water with a $25,000 investment.
We’ll provide details soon for how YOU can contribute to this amazing endowment and help AWOW continue to reach more families with Surf Therapy!

He has many obstacles that prevent him at times from having a quality of life, however at our very first event he was smiling, playing with the sand and doing his best to interact with the instructors.
– Nicole and Mike (Parents of JJ and Faith) of San Bernardino

A Walk On Water provides Surf Therapy to children with special needs or disability. The ocean’s transformative properties empower our participants, who enjoy a much-deserved day of laughter, love, and acceptance alongside their family. For one perfect, restorative day at the beach, there are no labels. Everyone is an Athlete.

AWOW works closely with our local communities, businesses, volunteers and watermen — brought together in service of a shared mission — to help those most in need experience the calming and therapeutic effects of the electrifying, living ocean; and, in the process, showcase the best of surf culture.
